Post-Mortem and Preparation for Tomorrow
On first day of the project, that is, 1st April (Saturday), the group members gathered at Dataran Za’ba at 7.30a.m. before we depart for preparation work and to ensure all materials required are fully prepared. We arrived at SKPK around 9.30p.m. after a car ride from University of Malaya.

We quickly began setting up our equipments and materials needed throughout the programme. The coordinator of SKPK, Encik Fekhry introduced us to the participants through sign language (ASL sign). After that, the participants also made self-introduction by sign language which was then translated by Encik Fekhry to us.

Shortly after, we divided the children into 4 different groups which each group consist of 6 persons and was lead by two volunteers who act as their facilitators throughout the programme.

We carried out ice breaking session that required the children to work together with the volunteers to complete a coloring picture. We bought that coloring picture and they need to put some coloring manik to the paper that are glued.

The students were so happy

Beautiful color combined! The SKPK students are so talented 😃

After that we had our our lunch and prayer session. During our lunch session, we manage to learn the ASL Sign for 'Doa Makan' . They are willing to teach us. Attached is the video, enjoy!

After the short break, we carried on with the team building activities such as Team Buiding 1: Crossword puzzle challenge. We search the crossword puzzle from the internet. This make the students need to think out of box and make them know more about general issues.
Arina and Azlin with their group members and guide them to solve the puzzle ☺

We choose this puzzaleto make them think and they are great they manage to solve it :)

After that we continue with Team Building II: “My dream building”. For the former, each group was given drinking straws, cellophane tape, cardboard and scissors to make a tower model based on their creativity while the crossword puzzle required them to find hidden words in a puzzle consisting of letters arranged in a grid.

The students are so focus to build their dream building 😃

After a break for bath and dinner, the Muslims had a Maghrib-Isyak prayer session. We "Solat Berjemaah" together with the students

During hte Maghrib Isyak gap, we conducted Movie Session. We had selected a few short inspirational movie clips which consist of morale values to educate the children about appreciation of life. The first two videos we show is The Silence of Love which we get from youtube which about a father that are disabled and really  love her daughter and The Garbage Man from youtube which about a son that really protects her mother that works as a cleaner on streets.

After that some of the students that are not sleepy yet want to continue with inspirational videos, so we continue with some motivational videos which is Forget me Not, The Honest Beggar,, Hari Raya anak Yatim, My Super Mom, Giving, Give, Din and My Father is A Liar. Basically, all of this video consist of strong disabled person and their uniqueness, the value of giving and helping each other and also the value of family. The reason why we choose short videos instead of a movie is because we want the students to easy to understand because usually movie duration is long and we afraid if the students might get bored. All of the video is really touching and some of them cry too.
